ROOMS SECTION
Private And Semi-Private Rooms
Every room is furnished with a bed, storage, and linens. Residents share the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathrooms. Placement is subject to acceptance and availability.

Each room has a biometric door lock, a 24-inch smart TV, a privacy screen, and ample storage

Medical or nursing care
Behavioral health or substance-use treatment
Medication administration or storage
Personal-care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming)
Transportation to appointments or errands
Licensed clinical services, case management, or financial management
Residents arrange their own care through VA or community providers. Health information and medication must be managed by qualified professionals
HOUSE GUIDELINES
A shared home works when everyone shares the load
Every resident signs a written residency agreement covering house expectations. They exist to protect your safety, privacy, and peace
FAITH-INSPIRED, NOT REQUIRED
Our identity is faith-inspired. Participation in religious observances is voluntary, and residents are expected to respect the beliefs and practices of others.
What to Include
Only one resident at a time, subject to written approval and available funds. Explain that the difference is deferred and remains payable.
House expectations
Cleanliness, room inspections, no eating in bedrooms, curfew, kitchen hours, visitor restrictions, and prohibitions on alcohol, illegal drugs, violence, and property damage.
Service boundaries
Housing and peer support only. Residents independently manage personal care, medications, appointments, finances, and transportation.
Application process
Review information → submit referral/application → provide required documents → program review → written decision. Submission does not guarantee admission.

Treat residents, staff, visitors, and neighbors with respect.

Follow the written residency agreement, house expectations, and safety procedures.

Maintain personal hygiene and keep assigned living areas reasonably clean.

Respect quiet hours, privacy, personal property, and shared spaces.

No violence, threats, harassment, intimidation, theft, or property damage

No illegal drugs, weapons, or prohibited hazardous items on program property.

Notify administration of suspected substances, changes in benefits, and significant safety concerns.
TEMPORARY REDUCED PAYMENT POLICY
Only ONE resident at a time may receive a temporary reduced payment, regardless of room type. Written BC4Y approval depends on available first come first approved; all other residents pay the standard fee. Payments are due on the 1st. The signed Prorated Occupancy Fee and Repayment Agreement is required; the difference is deferred, not forgiven. Full payments and repayment follow that agreement.
ADMISSION & APPLICATION
How Admission Works
Because the program serves many veterans, health and safeguards matters, it is designed to match our space and resources. It’s never based solely on a single referral.

Referral
Submit the referral form, yourself or through a VA worker, VSO, or family member.

Secure access
Administration reviews the request and sends a secure link to the appropriate portal

Application
Complete, accurate, and upload any supporting documents

Interview
Conversation to assess readiness, shared-living fit, and any reasonable accommodations
05
Move in
When a place is approved, move-in is scheduled and the agreement is signed

The House of Mary & Muriel welcomes referrals from case managers, social workers, reentry programs, probation officers, hospitals, treatment centers, veterans organizations, and partner agencies seeking safe shared living options for their clients.

Welcome to The House of Mary & Muriel
The House of Mary & Muriel on Malcom Shared Living Program, operated by Buffalo’s Concerned for Youth, Inc., provides month-to-month shared housing and voluntary, nonclinical peer support for ambulatory, independent adult male veterans.
Our furnished private and semi-private accommodations offer a respectful shared living environment centered on dignity, personal responsibility, and community. Residents independently manage their personal care, medications, appointments, finances, and transportation.
Before applying, please review our Program Information & Fees, Referral Form, and Application Packet. Admission depends on room availability and individual application review. Only one resident at a time may receive an approved temporary reduced payment, subject to available program funds.
